A rudd with what appears to be brown or blackish fins instead of bright reddish
ones, or a bream that has a reddish hue on it's fins are more than likely hybrids.
If the Carp don't tempt you then the equally impressive Tench are here to be
wrestled with. Common bream have deep narrow bodies and can swim through weedy or
reedy shallow water. Decent Perch and Rudd can be found by the patient angler.
Although sometimes difficult to spot, once located these really are excellent swims
and due to the nature of the river the crease can stretch for perhaps 30 yards
or more. Want your picture next to your comment? Best baits remain corn and
small cubes of meat with waggler and pole being best methods. Anthony used pole
to present worm over chopped worm and caster feed for an all perch catch.
The right route Travelling from Tunbridge Wells to East Grinstead on the A264 turnoff
left onto the B2110. There are plenty of Black Bream about. Just before the
bridge the entrance to Littleton South is on the right through a padlocked gate.
Being a big bream water, it favours the use of open-ended groundbait feeders
with many anglers starting their sessions by putting in about eight golf-ball sized
balls of groundbait before tackling up. Some real sport for the keen angler.
The bream are continuing to show and be caught in Dolygaer (Pentwyn) Reservoir,
plenty of groundbait seems to be the secret. Tope may be caught on some of these
beaches, and also off strands along the Clare, Galway and Mayo coasts. Good stocks
of Pike, Rudd, Perch and Eel are also here. Stewart Lister Well done Joe, what
an experience.
