In the meantime gene banks have been established for some of the most threatened stocks. Worm, shrimp and prawn are also permitted from 16 June until 31 August. Rob caught it on 5th March about Mid-day. Several other Scottish rivers also broke their all-time records, according to the ASFB.

Clean water is essential (with no imminent threat from upstream pollution), particularly for spawning. From the bank the most productive methods are spinning and worming. Now that the lochs are matured and fly life is abundant, the dry fly sport is exceptionaland even the huge carp in the lochs will take a well presented fly with the best being taken around 18 lbs in weight. Some very good catches were made through May and June with one angler taking and returning 28 trout in the day and another took and returned about 76 over four days. Boxed selections of a wide range of trout flies, including Scottish loch flies, traditional dry flies, nymphs, lures and streamers, for use on river or lake ..... Perch seem to move out of turbulent water, so your best opportunity is when the water is clearest and calmest. Well the season certainly started with a bang.

These were barricades of netting supported by wooden stakes which erected across the sandflats at low tide. Hooks or tubes should conform to standard patterns and should not have additional weights attached. At the bottom of this stretch, the water shallows once more and flows quicklyover a mixed clay and gravel bottom. Mullet also fall to the fly, but are very difficult. Eight foot long paddles are lashed to iron rings and the punt is therefore rowed in a traditional manner. On behalf of the Trust, thank you for your valued interest and support!! It is delicate work and very exciting. The Outer Hebridies are situated on the north/west coast of Scotland.
