Light rods and the smallest of sinkers would take a worm or small mackerel strip down to 20 feet, just about out of sight, when it seemed within seconds, the rod tip would rattle with a bite from a red bream which could weigh just a few ounces or maybe three or four pounds. Few roach are currently showing and the need for some rain is apparent. But experts at Plymouth's National Marine Aquarium predicted that climate change and warmer water would attract these tubby fighters from the Mediterranean to our islands. The bluegill will be a dark bluish color with a black or dark earflap. But these lads had all the bases covered. Milton Keynes, Cambridge and Peterborough are also under an hour's drive away. The roach has similar colouring to the Rudd (see below) the major difference being that the flanks of the roach are silvery. Our static holiday homes and touring caravan pitches are available on lakeside and riverside pitches. I would have to concur, which is why my boat always can be found in this section of the pond. If you land a rosy pink looking bream, with a large spot on its flanks, then get a photo if you can. I am sure that with better weather conditions we would have caught some of the bigger residents of the lake, and a lot more of them. We provide angling tuition for the novice or young anglers. Sea trout do frequent the area and add a bit of variety to the species present. These little worms prove irresistible to bream and tench. These later ponds are more accessible for the disabled angler.
